Summary: This was the first 8 km cross-country race organized within pacified low-income communities in the Southern Suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. Participants encountered some difficulties throughout the course such as steep inclines, stairs, narrow streets, alleys, ramps, rough ground and the possibility of mud in certain points along the way. The competition had available all of the equipment and trained personnel on hand necessary to guarantee the safety of all of the contestants, who were surprised to have to take their endurance all the way up to their limits!
